GOOD MORNING. I’M MARYBEL RODRIGUEZ. A BROWARD SHERIFF DEPUTY WAS HONORED AT A TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION MEETING BUT ENDED UP BEING CRITICIZED. ON WEDNESDAY, HE CALLED DEPUTY JOSHUA GUYARDO BACK TO THE COMMISSION CHAMBER. DEPUTY GUYARDO LIED ON A POLICE REPORT AND CALLED HIM A BAD POLICE OFFICER THAT DIDN’T DESERVE TO BE THERE. TAMARAC’S MAYOR AND THE BROWARD SHERIFF CRITICIZED THE COMMENTS. HE HAD A PRODUCTIVE MEETING WITH THE SHERIFF AND WILL MOVE FORWARD IN A POSITIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE MANNER. IT TOOK A JURY LESS THAN AN HOUR TO FIND BROWARD COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY RALPH MACKEY NOT GUILTY OF FALSIFYING A POLICE REPORT. THE CHARGES STEM FROM AN ARREST OF A TEEN OUTSIDE OF A McDONALD’S. VIDEO OF THE ROUGH ARREST WENT VIRAL. TWO OTHER DEPUTIES ARE FACING CHARGES IN CONNECTION TO THE ARREST. SOME PARENTS ARE SPEAKING OUT. THEY’RE NOT HAPPY WITH STATE SENATE RECOMMENDATION TO REINSTATE SCOTT ISRAEL. MY FIRST REACTION WAS, YOU KNOW, WHERE IS THE HEARING FOR MY DAUGHTER? MY DAUGHTER AND THE OTHER VICTIMS, WILL THEY BE REINSTATED? THERE IS NO HEARING FOR THEM. THAT HAPPENED THAT DAY. SO I’M UPSET THAT WE’RE EVEN HAVING THIS CONVERSATION. LAWMAKERS ARE SCHEDULED FOR A SPECIAL SESSION DURING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 21st. THAT IS WHEN THEY WILL DECIDE WHETHER TO REINSTATE OR REMOVE ISRAEL FROM HIS ELECTED POST PERMANENTLY. YOU’RE GOING TO WANT TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL ABOUT WHERE YOU PARK IN MIAMI-DADE AFTER THIS WEEKEND STARTING NEXT WEEK, PARKING FINES ARE GOING UP. ON TUESDAY, CITATIONS WILL DOUBLE, TRIPLE, AND POSSIBLY QUADRUPLE. THE COUNTY COMMISSION APPROVED THE HIGHER PARKING FINE TO INCREASE REVENUE. A PARKING TICKET THAT COST $18 IS GOING UP TO 32 BUCKS AND THAT IS A BARGAIN WHEN YOU COMPARE MIAMI TO OTHER CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. ALSO BEGINNING NEXT WEEK, IF YOU HAVE STRUCK TRAFFIC, GET READY TO DIG EXTRA DEEP. THE FINE JUMPS FROM 28 BUCKS TO $124. HAPPY FRIDAY, WAKING UP TO A SLIGHTLY WARMER START, MORE HUMID, TOO. 81 IN MIAMI. 80 DEGREES IN FORT LAUDERDALE. 78 IN KEY WEST. MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES AND REALLY GORGEOUS OUT THERE. THE BREEZE OUT OF THE EAST, NORTHEAST AT FIVE TO TEN MILES AN HOUR, AND HIGHS CLIMB TO AROUND 89 TODAY WITH THE CHANCE FOR JUST A FEW SHOWERS. THE RAIN CHANCE REMAINS LOW. BOATERS, WINDS EAST, 10 TO 13 KNOTS. A LIGHT CHOP ON THE BAYS AND TONIGHT WE’LL SEE THE UPPER 70s ALONG THE COAST, MID-70s INLAND UNDER PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES. TROPICAL STORM KAREN MOVING NORTHEAST AT 8 AND FORECAST TO WEAKEN TO A DEPRESSION LATER TODAY BEFORE IT LOOPS BACK AROUND AND ELIMINATES. THAT IS THE END OF THE TRACK AND THAT THAT IS THE LAST WE’LL BE TALKING ABOUT KAREN AS WE GET INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. AGAIN IT IS EXPECTED TO JUST KIND OF FIZZLE OUT. HURRICANE LORENZO IS A MONSTER CATEGORY 4 MOVING WEST, NORTHWEST. FORECAST TO BECOME A CAT 3 THIS WEEKEND. IT TURNS TO THE NORTHEAST AND COULD BE MOVING AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK.
