‘I’m in charge, nobody can tell me what to do’ BBC Stories

I built my own house with my
husband Julius for us to live independently. I’m the owner of this and
so I can do what I want. I work seven days in a week. I earn $125 a month. I grew up in Harare.
Then I met my husband and I started work as a
housemaid. It is difficult but we need
to achieve something I built a new house for the
future for my kids. It’s very exciting because
it’s mine. This is your room. It’s the bedroom. – Do you like it? – Do you like it?
– Yes. With $100 I can pay for this roof. It will be better and things
will be cheap for us. No one can tell me what to do. I’m in charge.

  1. Alice is so beautiful! What lovely soft deep eyes. Wish her and her family the best of luck achieving their dream!

  2. Coming from Zimbabwe I just hope she has all the papers for that house…can't bear the thought of bulldozers pulling her dreams apart
