Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
made her feelings known on impeachment and she has an insane idea. The 86-year-old Justice said that only unbiased
Senators should vote in an impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. We have no idea what century the Justice is
living in but where is she going to find even one unbiased senator? What she is suggesting is a trial in which
no one votes because, as there are two parties, no vote is going to be unbiased. Senate Majority Leader and Kentucky Sen. Mitch
McConnell said last week that there is no way he, or anyone else, could be impartial. “I’m not an impartial juror,” he said.
“This is a political process. There is not anything judicial about it. Impeachment is
a political decision.” But Justice Ginsburg believes that every “juror,”
and that is what senators are in an impeachment trial, should be unbiased. “The House indicts, and the Senate tries.
Should a trier be impartial? Of course, that’s the job of an impartial judge,” she said
in an interview with the BBC. Razia Iqbal, the BBC host interviewing her,
said that it would be “problematic” to have only impartial jurors because some, like
Sens. McConnell and Graham, said they had already decided what their votes are. “Well if a judge said that, a judge would
be disqualified from sitting on the case,” the Justice said. But Sen. McConnell is correct. The impeachment
of a president is a political process, not a criminal one, as the House showed. In no criminal trial would the prosecution
be allowed to tell the defense which witnesses they are allowed to call and on what days. In no trial would a prosecutor dictate the
terms of the trial, and preside over it, as Reps. Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff did. The fact is this is not a criminal trial against
the president. He has not even been charged with any crimes. It is the end of a witch hunt that has been
seeking a way to impeach President Trump from before he was sworn in. You had Rep. Maxine Waters shouting “Impeach
45” everywhere she went, Rep. Al Green introducing Articles of Impeachment two times and Rep.
Rashida Tlaib, in her speech after winning her election, saying that she was going to
“impeach the m***erf**ker.” There has been not one thing fair or impartial
about any of this and now that it has come to a Republican controlled Senate suddenly
Democrats want fairness and impartiality. They want Sens. McConnell and Graham to do
what? Recuse themselves so they could convict the president and have him removed? Democrats love “fairness” expect that
every time they do not win, they say it was unfair. They did it in the 2016 presidential election,
they did it again in the Georgia gubernatorial election and they are likely to do it again
when President Trump is acquitted.
